Suzanne Collins’ “Catching Fire” Review;

I read a lot of books, there is no denying that. However, I tend to leave a book unfinished. Most of the books on my bookshelf  still have the book mark placed somewhere passed the middle section. Why? Couldn’t tell you, honestly.

There are only significant authors or series that I will truly become passionate about; such as, Harry Potter series, Nicholas Sparks, and C.S. Lewis. Now I obviously enjoy other authors, like Max Lucado, Jodi Picoult, Mary Beth Chapman, and I thoroughly enjoy literature classics. But, there is something different about the books that I cannot seem to put down; books that I can read in one sitting and feel refreshed and drawn in at the end. Books that I find myself thinking about throughout the day, even though I have long finished the book. These are the good books, these are the books worth telling you about.

What I can tell you, though, is that when I do finish a book, it’s a book worth posting a review about. I recently (literally a few days ago) posted a review on the Hunger Games, the first of Collins’ breath-taking trilogy. I was so intrigued by the first that I ordered the second, got it yesterday, finished it today, and then order the third one.

Now, I never really thought I would get so attached to theses books, especially considering I am such a classic literature type of girl. But, they did it for me; just as when I read every single Harry Potter book six times, over again. Also like I was able to read straight through Anna Karenina. Like I said, these are the good books.

Any who, on to the review.

Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games” Review;

Yes, I have jumped on the Hunger Games bandwagon! And if you haven’t yet, I recommend that you do. One review says; “Terrifying, Exhilarating and unexpectedly thought-provoking” (Sunday Telegraph). Man, they got that right.

Let me put it into perspective; I sat down one night to read a few chapters, and come midnight when I finished the book, I realized just how drawn in I had been. I couldn’t put it down! Yes, I am a book lover, so I can say this about a lot of books, but The Hunger Games literally kept my attention the entire way through! It’s one of those books that if you tried to put it down, you would start dreaming about what was going to happen next; a constant build of tension.

Francine River’s ‘Redeeming Love’ Review

When a friend recommended this book to me, I was skeptical. She promised me that it would change the way I viewed love. It did just that! I had just experience yet another heart-break and was set on the idea that nothing would ever work out. But then I was introduced to Angel, a girl who was raised in prostitution, and was set on believing that love did not exist. When a young man, Michael, saves her from this lifestyle she cannot believe it. She denies his love and does nothing but shut him out. She runs, and he chases her. Michael shows true love of God. He gives and he gives, and she does not accept. But Michael knows the good Lord, and he does not give up on her. He does nothing but love her and cherish her, even when she does nothing but run.

In the end, will she give all her love back? Or continue into her old lifestyle, giving into the idea that there is nothing more but brothels and men who will pay big for her beauty. I challenge you to read it and find out.

This books gives hope to those who believe they may never find the real love the seek. It proves that when God’s hand plays a role in our love story, there is nothing we cannot dream.
There is real love, and this story portrays a timeless beauty of love and life.

William P Young’s ‘The Shack’

The Shack by William P. Young My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love & recommend it. Truly a great new perspective.

I struggled for years with the loss of my father. I still do.  But when I read this book, my heart was opened to a whole new light on the loss I had suffered. I could not give a higher rating to any other book.

Young challenged me to let go. Yes, let go. We cannot try to hold on to the ones we love forever, especially once they have passed. We also can not allow our hearts to blame ourselves.

He brings a unique version of the Trinity into view. The shack once being a place of horror, becoming a place to truly grasp what we’ve lost. By grasping on to the new light, we have to allow ourselves to move on.

No matter how hard the loss, there is new life in that loss, new lessons that are to be learned. And most of all the understanding that God is not punishing us. He is not trying to get us back, He simply has a bigger plan for all of us. Young understands that life comes with loss, and asks all of us to reconsider how we also look at our losses.
